Five crack police teams are on the trail of abductors of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ogun state, Senator Veronica Iyabode Anisulowo.

Anisulowo, who was a former Education Minister under late Umar Musa Yar’adua administration was kidnapped at about 6pm on her farm on Wednesday at Imasai town, Yewa area of Ogun state.

The Public relations officer of the State Police Command, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the kidnapping.

He said five rescue teams, on the orders of the state police commissioner, have been deployed to the area to trail the abductors.

A source said that there has not been any communication between the kidnappers and the family, while appealing to the police to intensify efforts in rescuing the woman. All her phones have been switched off.

The State Police Commissioner, CP Abdulmajid Ali has directed that the abductors must be arrested while the woman must be rescued from them.

“The Special Anti Robbery Squad,SARS and Anti Kidnapping Squad Commanders have been sent to the area by the CP to rescue the Senator and apprehend the perpetrators.

“We have also embarked on scientific investigation of the matter. We therefore assure the general public particularly the good people and Government of Ogun State that the kidnapped victim will be rescued very very soon unhurt.

“We appeal to Nigerians and people of Ogun State to support the police command with useful information to assist the police”, PPRO said.
