Bigwigs in the Jazz industry in Nigeria are set to storm Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s mega jazz night to showcase Lagos to the world through Jazz.

Jazz artistes expected at the event are: Dare Art-Alade, Yinka Davies, Lekan Babalola (two time Grammy-winner) with the Eko Brass Band, Herbert Kunle Ajayi, veteran Jazz Saxophone; Bright Gain, Adeh and the Spectacle Band, Ubong Ntia, Sam and the Jazz Apostle, Dotun Bankole, Victor Ademola Band, Omolara, among others.

The event is to mark this year’s United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) International Jazz Day (IJD), which comes up on 30 April, 2016.

At a news conference on Tuesday in Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde noted that the Governor will tomorrow played host to key promoters of jazz music and concerts at the state house ,where Ambode would share his vision of Arts and Entertainment for the state with them; to consider ways that government could be of support to the entertainment industry.

“The Lagos International Jazz Festival is to hold at the Freedom Park, while on the 30th Ambode and stakeholders of the Jazz industry in Lagos State will celebrate Lagos International Jazz Festival at the State House,” Ayorinde said.

Festival Director of the Lagos International Jazz Festival, Ayoola Sadare said the festival would draw investment worth millions of naira into Lagos with lovers of jazz traveling from far and near to celebrate the Lagos International Jazz Festival.

Sadare noted that the Lagos International Jazz Festival is model after the Cape Town International Jazz Festival which has recorded great success bringing one billion rand which is about twenty billion naira which jazz lovers from all over the world invest into South Africa.
