Nigeria has become the latest country to qualify for the 5th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, after the Flamingos pipped their opponents South Africa 1-0 at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa in an away game on Saturday.

Skipper Rasheedat Ajibade, who netted four in the Nigerians’ 6-0 win in the first leg in Abuja, came good again after the half-hour shooting Nigeria to a 7-0 aggregate scoreline.

The Bantwana barely threatened the Flamingos and would be grateful that the scoreline remained 1-0 as the Flamingos missed a handful of chances.

Ajibade’s goal was her eighth in four qualifying matches, having netted three in the 9-0 whitewash of Namibia.

The 5th FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will take place in Jordan between 30 September and 21 October this year.

Nigeria have never failed to qualify for the finals since the competition was launched in 2008.
