Ahead of the Rivers State rerun election on Saturday, the State Police Command has announced restriction of total movement between 6a.m. and 6p.m. on Saturday, 19 March.

In statement signed by Ahmad Muhammad, the spokesman of the Rivers Police Command also placed an “Outright ban on the use of tricycles, motorcycles and engine speed boats with capacity of 200 horsepower and above, from Friday, 18 March, 2016 to Sunday, 20 March,2016.

According to the statement “Very Important Personalities are barred from going to any voting centre with their security escorts except for their unarmed orderly only.

“They are also to desist from moving about from one place to another on election day as provided by the Electoral Act.”

The Command further warned that “monitoring teams will be moving to ensure strict compliance and arrest security men accompanying any dignitary in such unauthorised manner.

“The Command also appealed for the continued support and cooperation of members of the public in this regard, to enable the state have a smooth electoral process that can be adjudged not only free and fair but credible.”
