The Kano State Police Command has apprehended 11 robbery suspects including a 70-year-old man, said to be a terror in the metropolis of Kano.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Majia, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Kano..

According to him, the suspects were apprehended in Kano by the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

“The 70-year-old suspected robber of Samegu village in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state, and his accomplice of Hotoro quarters have been terrorising residents of the metropolis before they were arrested,” Majia said.

Majia added that prior to their arrest, “the duo had ransacked a house in Ja’en quarters of the metropolis where they carted away two motorcycles, a power generating set, a television set and N1900.”

He explained that the 70 year old suspect was nabbed with his accomplice at his house located along Madobi road.

The police claimed that the suspects used the house as hideout for their robbery operations.

According to the police spokesperson, a locally-made pistol, bullet cartridges, two motorcycles, among others, were recovered from them.

Meanwhile, nine other suspects were also arrested by the command in Tarauni quarters of Kano metropolis following report by a resident, who was robbed by them.

The man had told the police that six armed men invaded his house, threatened his life and robbed him of gold necklace, laptop and other electrical items valued N1.2 million.

Majia said “our men swung into action and succeeded in apprehending the gang leader (name withheld) and eight other members of his syndicate.”

He said all the suspects would be arraigned in court after full investigation.
