Three female Nigerian wrestlers have reached the finals of their weight categories at the ongoing African Wrestling Championships in Alexandria, Egypt

The wrestlers are Odunayo Adekuoroye, 55kg, Blessing Oborududu, 69kg and Aminat Adeniyi, 63kg.

NAN reports that the fights win the finals of the categories will take place on Sunday.

However, Rosemary Nweke, 48kg, Ifeoma Nwoye, 58kg, Blessing Onyebuchi, 75kg and Mercy Genesis, 53kg will fight to clinch bronze medals.

Also, five male wrestlers will be fighting in the free style categories to enable them to reach the finals of their weight categories.

NAN reports that 12 wrestlers are representing the country at the Championships which commenced on March 2 and will on March 6.

Daniel Igali, the President, Nigeria Wrestling Federation, told the NAN on telephone from the competition venue that the wrestlers have so far done well.

Igali said that he was impressed by the level of skills they exhibited.

“Well, virtually all of them made some mistakes but that is understandable. Those mistakes will be looked into.

“I am proud of them and how far they have gone. I was once like them and I know what it takes to reach the levels they are at right now,” Igali, an Olympian said.
