The Police in Kano on Monday killed three suspected armed robbers and arrested four others believed to be behind the recent robbery attacks in the state.

The Police Commissioner, Mr Muhammad Katsina, disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Kano.

Katsina said policemen had an encounter with the hoodlums numbering eight early in the morning when they kidnapped one Mr Dalbir Singh, an Indian national, whom was forced to enter his factory.

Katsina said the suspects after perfecting their plan, attacked Singh’s Company’s security guards at gun point and forcefully broke a safe using a 500kg cylinder and took away N5 million.

“The noise created by the attack drew the attention of the nearby members of the state Police Command Ambush Squad who were on a routine patrol in the area,” he said.

He said on sighting the policemen, the suspects opened fire.

He said Following the exchange of gunfire between the suspects and the policemen,the hoodlums were subdued leading to the killing of three of them.

“During the encounter, four of the suspects were apprehended, while one of them escaped with gunshot wounds,” the commissioner said.

He said that three of the company’s security guards were injured, while one policeman was injured, and that they had been admitted to hospital for treatment.

Katsina also said that during the encounter, some items were recovered from the criminals, including N3.2 million cash and two laptop Computers.

The rest are: five cell phones; one revolver rifle; three AK 47rifles; assorted ammunition; masks and charms.

He said as soon as investigation was completed, the suspects would be charged to court for appropriate prosecution.
