Organisers of GOtv Boxing Night have revealed the benefits Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame will begin to gain in the newly formalised partnership deal between the two organisations.

Mr. Jenkin Alumona, CEO of Flykite Productions, a promotion company that is packaging the GOtv Boxing Night, disclosed that the benefits among others include the rebranding of Lagos Hall of Fame gym at Olatilewa Street in Surulere.

The gym is a 32-bed apartment constructed for the use of amateur boxers by Wale Edun, chairman of Lagos Hall of Fame. It also has 12-shower bathrooms.

Jenkins also revealed at the just concluded GOtv Boxing NextGen Search that a percentage of the proceeds from the gate takings from the GOtv Boxing Night will henceforth be donated to the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame for the running of the gym.

Edun said the gesture is a welcome development that will go a long way taking the boxers to the next level.

He said that GOtv Boxing has brought a conveyor belt through which amateur boxers, not only on his stable, but the country as a whole, can progress to the professional cadre.

General Manager, Marketing & Sales, MultiChoice, Martins Malbutho said that the coming of GOtv into Nigerian boxing is to stop boxers in the country from struggling to survive in a career which is supposed to give them a new lease of life.

“We are not in this for a short time. We don’t want these boxers to be struggling but go out there to compete for a higher glory. That is why we are calling on other corporate bodies in Nigeria to join hands with us to give these boxers a fulfilling future,” Malbutho said.

Group Chief Operating Officer of Flykite Productions, Mr. Bamidele Johnson said that GOtv Boxing NextGen Search is a “production line where young amateur boxers will be groomed to become professional boxers.”
