The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Borno Command, said on Friday that it had arrested a 30-year old man, for allegedly defiling a six-year-old primary one pupil.

The Commandant of the corps in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, disclosed this in an interview with NAN in Miadiguri.

He said that the suspect was arrested in Jidari Polo area in the state capital.

“The suspect’s alleged act was reported to the NSCDC by the father of the victim on Jan.22.

“When the suspect was interrogated, he admitted raping the child.

“He further confessed that the act was not under the influence of anything but a desire for desperation.

“The victim was taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where it was confirmed that she had been defiled,’’ he said.

Ibrahim, who also confirmed the detention of the suspect, said the victim was lured by the suspect with N10 under the pretext to buy biscuits from her.

“Medical examination also indicates that there are spermatozoa in the victim’s urine,” said Ibrahim.

Ibrahim said the case was transferred to the Borno Police Command on February 9, for further investigation and prosecution of the suspect (name withheld).
