Madam Patience Tam-George, the 85-year-old mother of Austin Tam-George, the Rivers State Commissioner of Information and Communication has been set free.

The who was abducted by gunmen in Okrika last Saturday was set free in the early hours of Friday.

It was not clear if ransom was paid by members of her family.

The kidnappers had reduced the ransom from N30 million to N25 million.

However, her eldest son Godknows Tam-George, who served as Special Adviser on NDDC Affairs under the Rotimi Amaechi government confirmed the freedom of their abducted mother.

He did not give further details.

Godknows had dismissed the earlier political connotation read into the abduction of their mother, saying it was not politically motivated as alleged by his brother, Austin Tam-George.

He said the abduction is purely a criminal act and had nothing to do with politics.

Austin Tam-George had said his mother’s kidnap was sponsored and executed by a rival political party.
