At least 23 members of various secret cult groups in Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo state, have publicly renounced cultism.

On the other hand, two suspected cultists have been arrested in the university town of Ekpoma for attempting to forcefully recruit some students into their cult group.

P.M. NEWS reports that Ambrose Alli University is notorious for cultism.

The former cultists renounced their membership of secret cult groups at a church service organized by the Chapel of the Good Shepherd Church and the Redeemed Christian Church of God in conjunction with Ambrose Alli University.

Addressing the repentant cult members, the Dean of Students Affairs of the University, Prof. Isaac Aigbedion, said the renunciation should be the beginning of a new dawn in the university.

Aigbedion noted that renouncing cultism meant abandoning reckless life style and evil ways, adding that no good thing comes from the devil.

“I know today, the devil has been put to shame through these young lads who have decided to abandon him for God, leaving the bush for a straight road that leads to God’s own way.
