Bayelsa state-owned Niger Delta University on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 was shut down indefinitely.

The management of the school shut down the school after protest by some 200 Level Engineering students became violent in the school premises on Tuesday.

The protest began after the management implemented a law in the faculty.

The law states that any student that fails the three core engineering courses will be withdrawn from the faculty.

After the implementation of the law, over 20 final year engineering students were affected and asked to leave the faculty to continue at 200 Level in another faculty.
