Alhaji Mohammed Masta II, the Shehu of Dikwa in Borno, on Monday advised the state government to provide additional security at Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps to prevent further suicide bomb attacks.
Masta gave the advice when he visited survivors of the recent bomb attack at the IDPs camp in Dikwa on their hospital beds at the Specialists Hospital, Maiduguri.
He expressed shock at the attack and described it as inhuman.
Masta also suggested that government should delay the planned relocation of IDPs to their Local Government Areas of origin pending when the security situation improved.
“It is sad that some human beings will launch this kind of barbaric attack on fellow human beings.
“I think government should provide adequate security in various IDPs camps in the state to forestall future attacks,” he said.
He also urged the victims to see their condition as an act of God, and prayed for lasting peace to return to the state and the North-East.
About 65 persons were killed and many others injured after two suspected female suicide bombers detonated explosives at the camp.
NAN reports that a third suspected bomber refused to detonate her explosive after realising that her biological parents were resident at the camp.
