An aluminium installation specialist, Bolakale Yekini, 47, has been arrested by the police at Ikoyi Division, Ikoyi, Lagos for allegedly obtaining the sum of N6.5m from Prince Oyekan, one of the sons of the late Oba Oyekan of Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The money was collected to fix aluminium windows on Oyekan’s property at Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, but instead Yekini allegedly converted the money to his personal use.

Police investigation revealed that the suspect was ordered arrested by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ikoyi division, SP Tijani Mustapha following a complaint by Prince Oyekan that the accused collected the sum of N5.8m and N700,000 from him to buy and fix aluminium windows for his property but that after collecting the money, he started telling stories and failed to do the job.

After investigation by SGT Itafor Ernest and his team, the suspect was arraigned before an Igbosere magistrates’ court, Lagos on a two-count charge of felony to wit, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

The offences, according to the police in charge No F/09/2016, are punishable under sections 312(1)(a)and 285(1) of the criminal Laws of Lagos State.

Yekini pleaded not guilty to the alleged crime in the open court, and the presiding magistrate, Mr P. A. Adekomaiya admitted him to bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.

Adekomaiya adjourned the case till 1 March, 2016 for mention, while the defendant was taken to Ikoyi prison, Lagos pending when he will fulfil his bail conditions.
