The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has admonished Muslim and Christian Clerics in the country to always tell leaders the truth.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Abubakar spoke on Sunday in Tsamiya village in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State when he inaugurated an Islamiya School constructed by an indigene of the village who wants to be anonymous.

”Religious leaders should tell us the truth. We should be told when we do the right thing and we should be told when we go astray.

”This is better for us as such efforts should guide us, rather than praise singing to us and sycophancy,” the sultan added.

Abubakar also appealed to parents across the country to endeavour to enrol their children in schools at all levels.

”Education is the best legacy we can bequeath to our children and wards.

”It is also only with education that any society can develop and without it, there will be no any meaningful development,” the Sultan, said.
