The police at Oko oba Police Station Lagos, South west, Nigeria are trying to unravel what led a middle-aged man identified as Oluyinde Ibrahim to stab his mother to death.

The incident PMNews learnt happened on Friday morning at their residence No. 3 Bunmi Christopher Close, Off Arowolo Street, Abule Egba, a suburb of Lagos State.

According to a resident, Ibrahim who is a barber usually comes to visit his mother but that when he came visiting about a week ago he did not return until Friday when he decided to take his mother’s life.

Speaking further, the source said: “I went to bath when I heard the old woman shouting for help that her son wanted to kill her.”

He said he rushed out to discover that the door was locked from the inside and that he knocked and asked Ibrahim to open the door but the lad refused.

He said he tried to see what was going on in the room through the window. “I saw blood stains on the hand of Ibrahim,” he told PM News.

“As at the time he opened the door, he ran through the backyard and escaped.

“Other tenants who went inside the room saw the lifeless body of the woman. He had stabbed her on the neck severally,” the eyewitness explained.

The matter was reported at Oko Oba Police Station and the Police launched a manhunt for the fleeing Ibrahim who was eventually arrested Saturday morning.

He is helping the police with their investigation.

When PM News contacted the divisional Police Officer DPO in charge of Oko Oba Police Superintendent of Police, SP Bukoye, he declined to comment on the case and directed our reporter to the Lagos State Police, PRO, Dolapo Badmus, who is yet to brief the media.

The children of the deceased who hails from Abeokuta were said to have come to her house to pack some of her paraphernalia.
