The Sand Miners Association of Lagos State, Ibeju-Lekki Chapter under the leadership of Agbolade Bode alias Abodek has dissociated itself from a news item titled “Group Kick Against Lagos Ban on Sand Mining”.
The group claims that the report published in The Punch newspaper was written by an illegal, fake and un-registered association called Joint Lagos State Miners Association.
In a letter written by Sand Miners Association of Lagos, it noted that the said publication did not only grossly misinform unsuspecting members of the public but also portrayed traces of a campaign of calumny by the illegal group.
“There was never a time, we met, agreed and decided to go against the decision of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral resources, we on our part will adhere strictly to the stop-work order from the Ministry.” the group noted.
“We wish to inform the general public to discard the report and by this rejoinder, we affirm our total commitment and support to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral resources,” the group stated.
