In actualizing his campaign against drugs, Kaduna Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday announced the immediate suspension of a traditional ruler who was arrested over alleged drug related offence in the state.

A press statement signed the by the governor’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, said the NDLEA arrested Ibrahim Danladi on 20 January while he was in possession of a 1.5kg of marijuana.

According to the statement, Danladi who is the village head of Goma in the Gimi District of Sanga local government area of the state, admitted ownership of the illegal drug, and the NDLEA will be charging him as soon as it concludes investigations.

It further said the NDLEA subsequently notified the Kaduna State Security Council of the arrest of the traditional ruler. While deliberating on the matter, the Council recommended his suspension from office pending the conclusion of investigations and possible trial, adding, “the government accepted the recommendation.”
