Edo bank robbery suspects, native doctor arrested in Kogi

Edo police command has confirmed the arrest of six members of the armed robbery gang that attacked two commercial banks in Igarra, the administrative headquarters of Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo state, three months ago.

The robbery operation left at least six persons dead, including two policemen, a private security guard at one of the banks and a woman.

P. M. NEWS reports that the robbers had attacked the police division in the town, where the two policemen were killed before the gang carted away unspecified number of AK47 rifles and ammunition with which they attacked the banks. ‎

The suspects were arrested at different locations in Okenne and Kabba in Kogi state by men of the Nigerian Police who acted on information and traced them from Edo to Kogi state.

Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Osifo, gave the names of the robbery suspects as Idris Shaibu, Daniel Moses, Audu Raman Simple, Abdulahi Isah, Jimoh Salau, Saliu Liasu and an unnamed native doctor.

Other members of the gang are said to be on the run as police continue their chase.

Items recovered from the suspects include 15 AK47 rifles, 40 rounds of AK47 ammunition and 569 live ammunition and charms.
