Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to rebuild the state.
The governor disclosed this on Monday at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta while celebrating his 58th birthday with the aged in the state.
The event was organised by a foundation called ‘Uplifting The Aged,’ set up by his wife, Olufunsho Amosun.
More than 500 aged men and women from all the 20 local government areas of the state attended the event.
In his remarks at the event, Governor Amosun thanked the attendees for celebrating with him, stressing that much still needed to be done to make the state the destination of choice for everybody.
According to the governor, “the best celebration is when all what I promised the good people of the state have been actualised and the state becomes more comfortable and habitable for all.
“I want to thank everybody for the love showered on me today, but to me the best celebration is for us to fulfill all our promises to the people.
“We have a lot to give to our people and that we must do. I have decided to leave home early everyday to monitor all our projects around the state. This time next week, Mr. President will be with us to commission some of these projects.
“But when people started trooping in very early this morning to felicitate with me on my birthday, I had no choice but to be with them.
“The projects are our collective responsibility and we must join hands to see that the 40th anniversary of the state is successful,” Amosun said.
The governor charged the old people not to relent in their prayers for him and the state; and promised to complete all the ongoing projects across the three senatorial districts in the state.
Governor Amosun also appealed to the people to protect and maintain the projects.
The governor with some of his commissioners were at the Ogun West Senatorial District yesterday to inspect some projects.
Areas visited include Ilara, Ijoun, Alari, Ipokia, Imeko Afon, Ota and other places.
President Muhammed Buhari is expected in Ogun State on Monday and Tuesday next week to commission 40 projects to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the state.
