Chief Uche Nwosu, the Chief of Staff to Governor, Rochas Okorocha, on Saturday urged journalists to avoid sentiments and sensationalism in the discharge of their duties.

Nwosu gave the advice at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Owerri on Saturday where he had gone to assess the ongoing rehabilitation project there. He reminded journalists of the important position they occupy in the society and urged them to leave worthy legacies for the future.

Nwosu, who said the media had the enormous task of promoting good governance, called for synergy between the government and journalists in information dissemination. He lauded what he called the landmark achievements of Gov. Rochas Okorocha, noting that he had the interest of journalists at heart.

Nwosu also lauded the Imo Council Chairman of the NUJ, Mr Innocent Igwe, over the effective manner in which he had been directing the affairs of the council.

The Site Engineer, Mr Uche Chidume, said that the project was being executed satisfactorily, adding that it would be completed soon.

NAN recalls that Okorocha had at the end of a 2014 meeting with journalists promised to rehabilitate the council’s dilapidated secretariat on Port Harcourt-Owerri Road.
