A tragic motor accident that occurred on Wednesday along the Agbor-Sapele road, by the bye-pass in Benin, has reportedly claimed 12 lives. ‎

The accident involved an articulated truck, a car and a 14-seater Toyota Hiace bus marked BEN 621 YY, all said to be coming from the Delta State axis of the road.

Eye witnesses who blamed the accident on apparent break failure, said the truck rammed into the bus and the car.

Bodies of the victims were said to have littered the road as motorists and sympathizers made effort to rescue other victims still trapped in the wreckages of the vehicles.

Many of the victims were said to have died few minutes after they were brought out of the bus.

The survivors were rushed to the Benin Central Hospital.

Edo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Oluwasusi Familoni, confirmed the accident. ‎
