Elected Zamfara council chairmen promise to transform rural areas

The newly elected chairmen of Bungudu and Bakura local government areas of Zamfara have promised to introduce programmes that would improve the quality of lives of the people.

They spoke to newsmen in separate interviews on Monday on their victories at the Saturday council election in the state.

Alhaji Abdulaziz Ahmad of Bungudu Local Government Area, who spoke at Nahuche District, said his council would provide policy that would ensure effective revival of socio-economic development of the people of the area.

He said “we will cooperate with the state government to succeed in its policy of rural transformation.

“Our leadership will cooperate with all the elders and stakeholders in our local government so as to implement policies that would enhance the wellbeing of our people.

“As elected leaders under democratic process and local government as third tier of government, we will ensure that the dividend of democracy gets to people at grassroots.”

Ahmad commended the supporters of All Progressive Congress (APC) and entire people of the area who came out in mass and to vote for him.

Similarly, his counterpart in Bakura local government, Alhaji Bello Dankande described the just concluded local government election as welcome development.

Dankande said that it showed the level of strength and supporters of the APC in the state.

“As elected chairman of Bakura local government council for the second term, I will continue to give priority to education, youth and women empowerment.

“I consider education, youth and women empowerment because they are key to future and sustainable development,” he said.
