Delta council imposes curfew over cult killing

There is tension and apprehension in Ndokwa East local government area of Delta state, following the murder of two persons by suspected secret cult members.

The deceased were reportedly killed at different locations in Ashaka last weekend.‎

To forestall further breakdown of law and order, authorities of the Ndokwa East local government council, Tuesday announced a dawn to dusk curfew at Ashaka town and neighbouring communities.

Commenting on the development on telephone, the Chairman of the council, Mrs. Nkechi Chukwura, named the other communities that are to observe the curfew to include Aboh, Ibrede and Igbukwu.

She said nobody was expected to move about from the hours of 7 pm to 6 am while the curfew lasts, adding, “so that we can check the activities of the youths in the communities.”

The council boss who said that the police were doing their best to put the situation under control, warned that the police have been instructed to arrest whoever flouts the curfew order.

“We have asked them to go on patrol in the communities,” she added.
