The police at Ajuwon Division in Ogun State southwest Nigeria, have foiled an oil theft at Ishashi area of the state and recovered seven operational vehicles abandoned by the suspected oil thieves.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ajuwon, CSP Agboye John, got information that vandals were operating at Ishashi and he mobilized his Anti-Robbery team led by Inspector Ogunsola Lekan, to the area and on sighting the police the vandals opened fire on them and the police responded.

When the oil thieves could not withstand the fire power of the police they all jumped into the river and escaped.

The police recovered 30 kegs of 50-litre of Petroleum products, seven vehicles used for the operation by the fleeing suspects which include two Sienna Space Bus, one Highlander SUV, three Toyota Camry cars and three engine boats.

When contacted the DPO, John told our correspondent that he could not say anything as he had already transferred the case to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Abeokuta for further investigation.

The Ogun State Police spokesman, Mr. Muyiwa Odejobi, confirmed the story and promised that the police will soon fish out all the suspects and advised criminals in Ogun State to relocate of face the full wrath of the law.

“Criminals in Ogun State and those intending to come should relocate elsewhere because we are ready to fish them out anywhere they are. We have the capacity to do that,” Odejobi warned.
