A former chairmanship aspirant in Lagos state, Prince Idowu Ismail Irawo, has called on Nigerians to be patient with the Muhammadu Buhari-led government, saying that the hardship being experienced now is temporary and for the good of Nigerians.

Prince Irawo who contested for the chairmanship seat of Odi-Olowo Local Council Development Area of Lagos in 2011, stated this while speaking with PMNEWS on the state of nation, recently.

He said though much is being expected from Buhari’s government, Nigerians need to understand that “it is easier to destroy than to rebuild”, adding that it is only a magician that could build a house that had been destroyed for 16 years under one year.

“It is true that we Nigerians are passing through a very hard time due to the ongoing economic restructuring by the Federal Government. But I am very confident that we shall all smile at last.

“We should not expect any miracle now, the country has been bastardised for so many years by the past rulers. We should all be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari so that his bid in making Nigerians smile will be fruitful.

“Looking at the recently passed and signed 2016 Budget, and the reduction in pump price of petrol, every Nigerian will surely believe that President Muhammadu Buhari has good and plans for the citizens of this country,” he said.

Prince Irawo also called on the leadership of All Progressives Congress, APC, to allow the change that took place at the presidency at the last general election transcend to the in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, by allowing the will of the people to manifest any time local government election is held in the state.

He particularly advised the party leadership not to handpick or field an unpopular candidate which he said could cause the party a dangerous ‘political injury’.

“Our party should learn from the last general election when we lost some seats to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, both at the state and the national assemblies due to the featuring unpopular candidates.

“Our party leaders should allow our people to choose whom they want to represent them. This can only be done by having primary election not by imposition of candidates,” Irawo said.
