Manager faces trial over theft of employer’s SUV

Edeh Joshua, 41, a marketing manager with Gladys Felix Service Nigeria Limited, a car sales firm at Agbor, Delta State, Southsouth Nigeria, has been arraigned before a magistrates court at Agbor, Delta State, for allegedly obtaining a Toyota Hilander SUV valued at N2.2m from his former employer, Mr. Felix Otulukwu under false pretence.

The accused, a resident of 42, Orikeze Avenue, Agbor Obi area of Agbor, Delta State, was arrested by the police at Agbor Division, Delta State and arraigned before an Agbor Magistrates’ court on a one-count charge of felony to wit, obtaining Toyota Hilander SUV under false pretence.

Police prosecutor, Corporal Gef Ihoibode informed the court in charge No. MA/184/C/2015 that the accused committed the offence on 13 April, 2015 at Boji Boji, Agbor, Delta Sate.

Ihoibode told the court that the accused collected the SUV from his employer on trust that he will supply it to a customer, but the accused changed the vehicle documents to his own name, sold it off and converted the proceeds to his personal use.

He said when all efforts by the complainant to recover his vehicle from his manager proved futile, he reported the case to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.

Ihoibode noted that the offence the accused committed is punishable under section 419 of the criminal code law, CAP, C21, laws of Delta State, 2006.

The accused however denied the police allegations in the open court, and Magistrate Mr. M. M. Dike admitted him to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like some.

Dike adjourned the case till 8 January, 2016 for mention.
