The Lagos State House of Assembly is to improve on the welfare of its staff and this includes training, accommodation and equipment to help the staff meet the goals of the Assembly.

The Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, as well as the Chairman of the House of Assembly Service Commission, Wale Mogaji, made the promise during a quaterly interactive session held by the House for members of its staff.

“We want to commend all staff for your efforts and contributions towards the success of this institution.

“We will continue to work hard to improve the working conditions of all staff. We can sit together on whatever you want us to do more,” Obasa told the staff promising to reinforce all departments and sections to function effectively.

Describing the eighth Assembly as proactive, Obasa said that the Assembly would procure more video cameras for the information department of the House as well as recruit more dispatched riders aid quick delivery of correspondence.

In his speech, Mogaji described the Assembly staff as some of the best in the civil service of Lagos State and also noted that the last staff audit conducted by the commission proved to them that the Assembly has staff that could be relied upon at all times.

Mogaji said the commission was doing everything within its powers to ensure that the staff have the best training, accommodation and equipment to ensure effective service delivery.

He noted that the new office complex for the staff of the Assembly would be completed soon and that the leadership of the House was working hard to ensure that all the demands of the staff would be looked into with speed.

Mr. Ganiyu Abiru, Clerk of the House, while speaking at the event, said the House had done much for the civil servants working at the Assembly.

“The Assembly has continued to improve on the condition of staff and the way we do our services, we should thank the management of the House.

“I think we are trying and we will do more to transform everyone,” he said while urging the staff to stop comparing themselves with the lawmakers in terms of welfare packages.

Apart from training and retraining of staff, Abiru said the House subsidises the price of petrol for its staff at the Assembly and promised that food would also be subsidised for staff at the canteen that would be located in the building under construction.

Some staff of the Assembly including Ms. Bose Lambo of the Information Department, as well as Sanni Azeez, the Director of Finance of the Assembly got award for long service.
