In fulfilment of All Progressives Congress, APC, electioneering campaign promise in the area of education, the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Lagos, southwest, Nigeria, recently gave out educational materials to the pupils of public primary schools in the area.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the council, Honourable Lookman Adisa Omotosho, said the distribution of the educational materials which includes; school bags, exercise and text books, was a dream come true despite the prolonged dwindling monthly allocation to all tier’s of government he said that the move was a way of cushioning the burden of economic hardship on the parents of the pupils.

Omotosho said despite the present economic reality in the country, his political party, APC, and his administration will not abdicate its primary duty to the people.

The council boss used the occasion to inform the residents of the area about the projects embarked upon by his administration these includes; two weeks free medical screening for the aged and the general public, continuous de-silting of the drainage, construction of 10 units of public toilet and bathrooms and provision of adequate and effective security.

He also listed some of the ongoing projects such as construction of a 12 apartment of one bedroom named ‘Council Flat’, at Dolphin Estate, rehabilitation of many roads, and plans to upgrade Sura, Phase 3, and Araromi’s PHCs to a 24-hours health service provider.

He however, called on the beneficiaries of the educational materials to make judicious use of it for their life development.

Also speaking at the event, a chieftain of the APC, Prince Tajudeen Olushi, while commending the Executive Secretary for the presentation, called on the beneficiaries to count themselves lucky to be among the recipients of the donations.

A school headmistress, Mrs. O. Obidairo who spoke on behalf of the pupils and other school teachers, commended the council’s Executive Secretary for the gesture. She also appealed to the council boss to extend same to teaching and non-teaching staff in the area.
