Former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi: the wait goes on

The Nigerian Senate will no longer be having its plenary on Wednesday as initially planned and has automatically deferred the screening of former Rivers governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

A statement by acting clerk, Nelson Oyewoh said the senate will now meet on Thursday.

It means there will not be any confirmation hearing for any ministerial nominee tomorrow.

Only two of them were screened Tuesday, Adebayo Shittu and Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, a member of the House of Representatives. The screening of Professor Claudius Daramola from Ondo State, was postponed.

Sixteen of the 36 ministerial nominees are still waiting to be heard by the Senate, as the Senate spokesman, Dino Melaye said earlier today that the screening would stretch till Wednesday next week.

Nigerians waiting to watch how the screening of Amaechi will play out, will now need to wait till Thursday this week and hope he is eventually screened.
