Court declares pilot wanted for jumping bail

An Igbosere magistrates’ court in Lagos, western Nigeria, has declared a Mexican and a pilot with Kings Airlines, Ikeja, Lagos, Mr. Walter Emilo Schemes Fucas, wanted for jumping the bail granted him by the court for failing to produce a suspect he stood as surety for at the station.

The order was handed down by Chief Magistrate Mrs. A. O. Komolafe in charge of court 3, Igbosere magistrates court, Lagos in Form E, FCP.O.L536 warrant to arrest a person for failing to appear in court.

The order reads: To all courts and police officers, whereas Walter Emilo Schemes Fucas of 5b Michael Oguns Street, Ikeja, GRA, Lagos is bound to appear before the court on 3 June, 2015 but he failed to appear. You are hereby commanded to arrest the said Walter Emilo Schemes Fucas and bring him before me at the Igbosere magistrates’ court, Lagos without delay anywhere he may be found.

The fleeing accused was arrested and arraigned before the court by the operatives of the Interpol section FCID, Alagbon Close, Lagos on 17 December, 2014 in charge No. C/38/2014 for failing to produce Miss Barbara Gonzalez he signed a N5m bail bond for at the station to secure her release.

The offences the prosecutor, DSP Raymond Akhaine, said, are punishable under section 97(3) of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the crime and Magistrate Mrs. Olagbeinde admitted him to bail and handed him over to his counsel who promised to always produce the defendant in the court on every adjourned date of the matter till the case was disposed off.
