Ogun Assembly approves Amosun's commissioners

Ogun State House of Assembly Thursday approved the request of the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to appoint 18 commissioners and 20 Special Advisers.

The commissioner nominees were on Wednesday screened by the Committee of the Whole House headed by its Speaker, Surajudeen Isola Adekunbi.

Presenting the report of the screening at the plenary on Thursday, the Deputy Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, explained that due diligence was followed in the screening of the nominees.

Oluomo, who represents Ifo 1 State Constituency, explained that no security report was received on any of the nominees, adding that “their nominations were applauded by members of the Assembly representing their constituencies regardless of party affiliations.”

He further explained that all documents and credentials submitted by the nominees were screened after which the nominees were found them worthy to be appointed as Commissioners in the state.

The Committee however recommended the confirmation be ratified by the house.

The Majority Leader of the House, Yinka Mafe moved a motion for the adoption of the report and was seconded by Oduntan Razaq, a PDP member, representing Yewa North II State Constituency.

Mafe also moved the motion for the approval of the nomination request and was seconded by Yetunde Sogbein from Odeda State Constituency before a voice vote which approved the nomination request.
