Men of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested four persons suspected to be behind the abduction of Ejira Laale, son of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Ndowa Laale, at Ebubu in Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects paraded by the police include: Kingdom Okere (35), Chiboy Lucky (35), Samuel Bassey (20), Emmanuel Patrick (21), Ikedichi Nwachukwu (19), Samuel Osaro (19) and others.

They were alleged to be behind several armed robbery, cult activities and kidnapping in the state.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, while parading 12 suspected kidnappers and five cultists, at the Command’s Headquarters, Port Harcourt, said the hoodlums were arrested by the Anti-Kidnap Unit (AKU) and Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU) of the police.

Kimo, while revealing the success recorded in crime fighting in the state since his assumption of office, noted that the fight against crime had yielded results, as many suspected criminals have been arrested.

Kimo, who was represented by the Command’s spokesman, Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Polic (DSP), said seven kidnap victims were rescued, among whom were a 76-year-old woman and a man aged 68.

He gave some of the rescued victims’ names as Mrs. Theresa Nwosu (76), Mrs. Bunmi Shone (43), Professor Iheanyi Nzemeri (68) of the University of Port Harcourt, Osimoke, Judah Ayoade, (10), Oguchukwu Duru and Friday.

Kimo assured that the Command would tackle crime and criminality in the state with renewed vigour to ensure lives and properties are protected state.
