Former Oyo State Governor and 2015 governorship candidate of Accord Party, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on Thursday advised President Mohammadu Buhari to be more focused and concentrate on governance and deliverance of democracy dividends to the electorate than fighting corruption on the pages of newspapers.

Senator Ladoja made this declaration at his Bodija residence shortly after the prayer of Eid-el-kabir that he observed at Agodi praying ground and expressed worry over the sate of the country especially in the area of unemployment and insecurity.

He noted that the rate of kidnapping is increasing in the country due to lack of jobs for millions of youths that graduated from higher institutions.

According to him, “I read from the newspapers that President Buhari had directed the Inspector General of Police to produce Chief Olu Falae kidnapped about five days ago. I don’t know whether he had complied. We are not in the military era. I don’t believe that giving such an order is necessary.

“But, I must I confess to you that security is the responsibility of everybody. We must all be ready to always give information to our police so that the crime rate can be reduced. But seriously speaking, Buhari’s administration should rise up to the presidential responsibility by putting in place structures that will boost creation of employment for the youth in Nigeria.

“In this country, we must be less dependent on oil and go back to agriculture that is the only sector that can assist us in solving our problem of unemployment. Government must introduce modern farming which graduate farmers will have access to tractors among others.”

The ex-governor expressed dismay that some state governments in the country are owing their workers their legitimate salaries, saying that Governor Abiola Ajimobi should not be owing workers salaries if not because of misplaced of priority.

According to him, “my administration left N13 billion naira when I left office. Oyo government should not owe workers salary but due to mismanagement, workers are suffering today in the state. This was as a result of the fact that what Senator Ibikunle Amosun in Ogun constructed at one naira Ajimobi in Oyo State constructed same at five naira.

“Apart from this, Ajimobi said he is establishing technical university, promised five star hotel, used tax payers’ money to plant flowers, but as am talking he has failed to fulfill his promises. So, misplaced priority is what is causing workers not to be paid their salaries in Oyo State today.”
