The White House Monday said it was ‘deeply concerned’ about reports that Afghan boys were being sexually exploited by Afghan national security and defence forces.
Spokesman Josh Earnest at the daily briefing said that “this form of sexual exploitation violates Afghan law and Afghanistan’s international obligations”.
Earnest was reacting to a report on US service members being disciplined by their US military commanders if they intervened in the rape of young boys in Afghanistan.
“Countering the exploitation of children is a high priority for the US government.
“This kind of behaviour doesn’t just violate Afghan law and Afghanistan’s international obligations, it certainly violates pretty much everybody’s notion of what acceptable behavior is,” Earnest said.
