Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has commenced the construction of 81km roads at different local government areas.
The Commissioner for Works in Akwa Ibom, Mr Ephraim Inyang, disclosed this in an interview with NAN in Eket, Akwa-Ibom, on Sunday.
Inyang said that the roads were in fulfilment of the governor’s campaign promises to sustain and provide critical infrastructure for the benefit of the people of the state.
He said the administration would on September 22 commence construction of Ndon Uyo and Etinan Roads, bridge at Obot Akara and dualise Akwa Ibom Airport Road to Oron Local Government Area.
The commissioner identified paucity of funds as the bane of the administration, saying: “if the governor had more funds I am sure Akwa Ibom will jump on the streets celebrating.
“It means that if oil price was at the roof top as it used to be, so much would have been achieved in a short period,” he said.
