Former Judge calls for establishment of special courts for financial crimes

High CourtA former High Court Judge, Justice Sylvester Ehiwarior has called for the establishment of special courts to handle financial crime cases in the country.

Ehiwarior made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) on Friday in Agbor, Delta.

He noted that the establishment of special courts would enhance the administration of justice in the country.

The former judge stressed that such courts would speedly dispense with such cases, thereby bringing about sanity in the system.

“The call for the creation of a separate courts to try corrupt individuals in the country is indeed a noble idea.

“This is so because the regular courts in the country have been overwhelmed with number of cases.

“Also, it is obvious that in regular courts cases are known to last even up to 10 years and above which is not good enough in the dispensation of justice.

“If separate courts are created with the mandate to look into these economic sabotage alone, that will be another plus for the administration of justice in this country,“he said.
