The Nigerian Guild of Editors on Friday ratified Malam Garba Deen Muhammed as its President.
Muhammed takes over from the former President, Mr Femi Adesina, now Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The guild also ratified Mr Steve Ayorinde as Deputy President while Mrs Funke Egbemode emerged as the Vice President, South West.

Muhammed said in an acceptance speech that he would work hard to uplift the guild.

“I will do everything within my power to ensure that you never regret the decision you have taken today. I promise to be accessible to all members at all times,’’ he said.

He promised to work with the Nigeria Union of Journalists and other related bodies in order to take journalism to greater heights.

He commended members of the guild for giving him the chance to serve as President, stressing that the process was done peacefully.

Muhammed said “Adesina is a gentleman with great leadership qualities.”
