The Organising and Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), said it was yet to receive the protest letter by Rangers Intl. Football Club of Enugu against Lobi FC of Makurdi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Rangers had written a protest letter alleging that Lobi FC fielded an ineligible player – Barnabas Imenger Jr. – in their Federation Cup semi-final match which they (Rangers) lost 1-0 on Wednesday.
Rangers had questioned Imenger’s eligibility, saying the player had featured for Kano Pillars in the first stanza of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League before joining Lobi last week for the second stanza.
The team, through its General Manager Paul Ozor, said Imenger, having played for Pillars this season, ought not to have played for another league club in the same competition.
But Tunde Aderibigbe, Secretary of the NFF Disciplinary Committee, told NAN that the letter had yet to get to his table.
“Whenever it comes to my table, the disciplinary committee will commence hearing on it, but for now, I am yet to see it,’’ he said.
Ruth David, Head, NFF Federation Cup unit, who admitted receiving the letter, said the letter had also reached the desk of the NFF General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi.
Ruth said it was now the duty of the disciplinary committee to take the necessary step to hear the matter.
