The Ogun State government has lifted ban on the activities of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the state.

A ban was placed on the union early this year after some internal crisis rocking the union was about to degenerate into full blown crisis. The state government immediately stepped in and outlawed the activities of the union.

According to a statement by the General Manager, Parks and Garages Development Board, PAGADEB, Alhaji Ayo Ogunsolu and signed by the Information Officer of the Board, Taoheed Lawal, the government also approved the nomination of a 30-man executive that will run the affairs of the union in the state.

Those appointed are the incumbent Chairman of the union, Alhaji Mugisu Akinpelu as still the Chairman, while Mr Akingbade Tiwalade is the Secretary.

RTEANOthers are: Alhaji Ahmed Kuku, Deputy Chairman, (Admin.), Alhaji Ridwan Lamidi, Deputy Chairman (Operations) and Mr Sulika Rufai, Deputy Chairman (Logistics/Planning) among others.

Ogunsolu pointed out that the development was part of government’s effort to ensure peace and orderliness in the association.

The Board, according to the release, urged members of the association to work in harmony with the new executive officers, as any contrary motive will be regarded as an affront to the government’s effort at sanitizing the association.

“Any action from your end to be at variance with those of the aforementioned officers in the list could be viewed as an affront to the effort of the state government in finding a lasting solution to the power tussle that has plagued your union in recent times; and which may return your union back to the status quo,” the statement warned.
