A member of the Special Task Force (STF), and five other persons, were attacked by gunmen in Barkin Ladi Local Government of Plateau on Tuesday.

Captain Ikedichi Iweha, STF spokesperson, told NAN, that the attack occurred in the afternoon at Bisich village in Barkin Ladi.

Iweha said the victims sustained injuries but were not life threatening, adding that they were responding to treatment.

“As for the soldier who sustained gunshot wounds, it is one of the prices we pay in the course of ensuring that there is peace,” he said.

The STF Media Officer said the peace in the area was punctured when the corpses of two persons declared missing were later found.

“This resulted into attacks and reprisals leading to the blocking of road at the Bisich area.

He said with the rapid response by the men of the STF, the situation was brought under control and motorists had started plying the road.

Iweha advised people in the area to cooperate with security agencies in tackling the security challenges facing the area.
