Less than 3 months into the new administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the much anticipated wind of change can be felt already in every sector of the economy and there is no belabouring the obvious saying that behind every successful man there is a woman.

Mrs Aisha Buhari, The Wife of the President has ran with the vision of her husband from the start by openly showing support for the government and adding value to existing projects on different occasions because she understands that she is beholden to the constituents her husband represents which is our great country Nigeria.

As the wife of the President, she hosted the less privileged and the people living with disabilities to breakfast with her during the just concluded Ramadan. She also made several charitable donations to the Bomb blast victims and nursing mothers. She believes strongly in the empowerment of women; especially the girl child.

Mrs Buhari has repeatedly decried the low number of women in the legislature and has promised an improvement of life for all in her speeches.

She hosted wives of Governors to a seminar/learning opportunity to which wives of governors discussed various possibilities and ways to further support their husbands in their individual states with laudable projects which meet the needs of the citizens of their individual states.

Mrs Aisha Buhari has insisted repeatedly that she is not to be addressed as the First Lady but as Wife of the President and she will continue to be a source of support to the President and Nigerians. She has personal staff, aides and security details as the Wife of the President and her correspondence is handled by a team under the office of the president.

As the Wife of the President, she has displayed decorum and grace and returned prestige to the role of a president’s wife which had become necessary for our country’s’ effort in nurturing patriotism and a building trust in the leadership.

Therefore, in the coming months, the focus should be on President Muhammadu Buhari’s rebuilding of Nigeria as a nation and how his wife uses the privileges of her status in improve the welfare of Nigerians and not on petty arguments such as where she decides to locate her office or where she receives visitors.
