Ex-Lagos lawmaker gives out buses, other items to mark birthday

For the second time this year, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abdoulbaqı Ladı Balogun, has given out six mini-buses to some people in his Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 2 of Lagos State.

Shortly after losing the 2015 election, Balogun delivered some set of buses to some groups of people in the constituency as part of his empowerment.

As part of his 40th birthday, the lawmaker on Sunday gave out another set of buses a day after he visited Bab-es-Salam, an orphanage at Joel Ogunaıke Street, GRA, Ikeja area of the state to present various materials to its management.

During the ceremony which took place at the premises of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government council secretariat in the Ajegunle area of the state, the former lawmaker also empowered the less-privileged, widows as well as his political supporters with cash and other items.

Among others, each of 12 beneficiaries got a brand new freezer and 50 packs of table water to commence business, 25 beneficiaries got gas cookers and cooking utensils for food to start business as food vendors while some other residents got satellite decoders for viewing centre business.

Speaking at the event, the former lawmaker appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to always remember the less-privileged as a way to reduce the socıo-economic inequality among the country’s citizens.

Balogun, who had consistently carried out empowerment programmes in the constituency, said assistance to people by the well-to-do would make the society a better place to live in.

The former lawmaker later told journalists that he was fulfilled at 40.

He thanked hıs supporters and those who have been part of his success story just as he also thanked God for empowering him to empower others and assist those in need.

“Giving to charity from what God has given to me has been a way of life for me right from when I was in the private sector and I thank God for given me the magnanimity to do this.

“You are here to witness and report this because it’s my 40 years birthday which is a milestone in my life, if not, it would have been another quiet effort known to God and my nuclear family members.

“This has been the practice in the past,” he said.

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Lagos West Senatorıal Dıstrıct , including Chıef Rabıu Adıo Oluwa, Senator Ganıyu Olanrewaju Solomon(GOS), Adekanye MHR, Funmılayo Tejuosho, Kasumu, ımmedıate past Deputy Speaker of Lagos Assembly, Kolawole Taıwo, former Commıssıoner for Transportatıon ın Lagos State, Comrade Kayode Opeıfa, were among several APC chıeftaıns present at the event.
