A 26-year old woman has reportedly drowned in well at Ijede area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The unidentified woman was said to have fallen inside the 120 feet deep well accidentally.

Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe confirmed the tragedy to PM News, saying that the incident occurred on Thursday.

He said the tragedy occurred at No 1, Babatunde Aina Street, Omitolo, Ijede area of Lagos.

Fadipe stated that the lady was brought out of the well already dead, saying that her body was recovered by the firemen in Ikorodu Fire Station.

“A lady of about 26 years old accidentally fell and got trapped inside a well of about 120 feet deep. She was recovered dead by firemen from Ikorodu Fire Station,” he said.

In recent time, there have been cases of people falling inside uncovered wells in Lagos vicinity.

According to Fadipe, government should properly monitor wells in the state and ensured that they were covered.
