Osun CFAN Begins Chemical Distribution To Cocoa Farmers

The Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria, CFAN, Osun chapter said it had started the distribution of chemicals to cocoa farmers in the state in its drive to boost cocoa production.

The association, in a statement issued by its Deputy Chairman Board of Trustees and Zonal ‎Secretary Oyo/Osun zones, Dr Bola Otunla and Mr John Alalade, said that the chemical distribution was to ensure that the state caught up with other cocoa growing states in the country.

“The state chapter of the Cocoa Association of Nigeria started the distribution of fungicide and insecticide to cocoa farmers in Osun.

Cocoa-tree-1“The initial consignment has come and is being distributed and it will continue until the end of the rainy season in 2015.

“This is to ensure that we match up with other cocoa growing states in the South-West, especially our competitors in Ondo state.”

According to the statement, the distribution of the chemical to cocoa farmers is borne out of the association’s support for Gov. Rauf Aregbesola, who has been rendering yearly support to cocoa farmers in the state.

It urged farmers to put in their best in the area of cocoa production in the state.

The statement said that all hands must be on deck for the state to realise its full potential in agriculture, especially in the area of cocoa production in the country.
