Russian Club Sign Nigeria's Uzochukwu On 3-Year Deal

Russia Premier League side, Amtrak Perm, have signed Nigerian Izunna Uzochukwu on a three-year deal.

P.M.NEWS Sports gathered that the 25-year-old joined Amtrak Perm on a free transfer after a successful spell at Danish superligue champions FC Midtjylland.

The defensive midfielder, who joined FC Mitdjylland in 2007, was an important member of the league champions notching up 172 appearances.

He, however, says this is the time for him to face a new challenge in Russia with Amtrak Perm.

“I had a successful time at FC Mitdjylland but decided to experience a new challenge after clinching the superligue title. I am looking forward to playing in the Russia Premier League and achieving success with Amtrak Perm,” he said.

Uzochukwu says he is open to play for the Nigerian national team after reports in Denmark suggested he wants to play for the Danish national team.

“Playing for the Super Eagles is the dream of every Nigerian footballer. I never thought of playing for another country and I hope one day I will get the chance to serve my fatherland,” said Uzochukwu, who is currently on pre-season training with his team in Austria.

Uzochukwu played for FC Ebedei in Nigeria between 2004 and 2007 before moving to Denmark to join Fc Mitdjylland
