The Ogun Head of Service, Mrs Modupe Adekunle, on Tuesday, said that the state government was not owing its civil servants any salary arrears.

Adekunle made this known in Abeokuta at a news briefing to commemorate the 2015 Public Service Day celebration.

The Head of Service said that the governor had paid salaries of workers as and when due, while also putting in place machinery to ensure payment of the seven months cooperative deduction in the state.

“Having considered the financial situation of the country in general, we had thought that we would not have any celebration, but thanks to the magnanimity of our worker-friendly Governor, Ibikunle Amosun,” she said.

Adekunle urged civil servants to be proactive and prudent in their line of duty.

She said the state had in the last three years continued to mark the civil service day with fanfare and commemorative events such as symposiums, health walks and games.

According to her, over 53 Ministries, Departments and Agencies are to participate in games like Football, Table Tennis, Scrabble and Traditional sports.

On the delay in the appointment of commissioners by the governor, she said it had not affected the operation of the ministries.

Adekunle said she would be retiring from the civil service on Sept. 30.
