Sunday Ajayi, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Anambra, confirmed that a ghastly accident involving five vehicles occurred on Saturday afternoon at Orlu road junction, Ihiala, Anambra.

He said seven persons were injured, adding that they were successfully rescued and rushed to undisclosed hospital for urgent medical attention.

Ajayi said that no lives were lost, adding that seven people were injured.

“I can confirm the unfortunate accident to you, it involved five vehicles including a trailer, but no life was lost and the seven people injured had been moved to nearby hospital,” he said.

NAN reports that the crash involved an articulated vehicle, a commuter bus, a Toyota Camry car, a jeep and a truck conveying drinks.

An eye witness, who identified himself as Jude, said the accident occurred when the commercial bus driver was driving against traffic towards Owerri road from Onitsha.

“This bus from Onitsha was driving against traffic and it collided with the jeep before all these other ones ran into them.

“The truck that hit the pavement was also trying to dodge them.

“It is a serious accident the victims have been rushed to hospitals by the Road Safety and some policemen,” he said.
