Couple docked for assaulting 2 men with cutlass in Ondo

A couple — Olamigoke and Kewe Fadayomi — who allegedly assaulted a man and a woman with cutlass, were on Friday docked at an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State.

The accused – Fadayomi and his wife, Kewe, 22 — are standing trial on a two-count charge of assault and felony.

Prosecutor Ayodeji Omoyeigha told the court that the accused had on June 2 at about 6:30 p.m. at No. 32, Iwasanmi St., Okitipupa, conspired and assaulted the duo of Mr Olorunda Ajiboye and Mrs Omolere Adetimehin.

Omoyeigha said the accused used a cutlass to cut Ajiboye’s lower jaw and Adetimehin’s forehead.

The offences, he noted, contravened Sections 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Chris Ojuola, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with a surety each in like sum.

Ojuola said the sureties must provide one year tax clearance to the court as part of the bail conditions.

Further hearing in the case has been fixed for June 26.
