There are indications that the Benin Airport may be shut down to air passengers for about four weeks to allow for maintenance work on the airport.

Sources at the airport confided to journalists in Benin that the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has ordered the temporary closure between 20 June and 17 July, 2015, to enable management carry out maintenance of the airport’s run-way to ease flight landing and take-off.

The Manager of the Airport, Mr. Ayodele Sunday, failed to comment on the issue, simply saying that he was yet to be briefed.‬‪

To this end, passengers who use the airport may have to seek alternative route as all flight activities are expected to shift to Warri or Asaba Airports pending when repairs are fully effected.

It would be recalled that the main terminal building of the Benin Airport along with others across the country, were last renovated when Stella Oduah was Minister of Aviation.
